Maplehurst Farm – A Greensboro Institution

Established in the 1850’s, Gebbie’s Maplehurst Farm is an institution in Greensboro, VT. For five generations, the Gebbie family has worked hundreds of acres of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, producing pure Vermont maple products with the utmost of integrity.

Our north-facing sugarbush is located high in the hills at an elevation of approximately 2000 ft. This unique mix of elevation, soil, climate, and sunlight yields maple syrup that has proven for over a century to be remarkably light in color yet rich in maple flavor. The farm currently consists of a 6500 tap sugarbush, which produces roughly 2000 gallons of syrup annually. Taste our products and you’ll know why we’ve been making the best syrup for generations.

More than just Maple!

Peter and Sandy Gebbie are the passionate stewards of this corner of the Northeast Kingdom. And while there are easier ways to make a living, easy is not our way! To be good farmers means we work hard. We take great pride in making quality products with our hands, in raising animals and in caring for our land.

A little bit about us!

Peter has a BS in Animal Science and farming is in his blood, his full-time career.

He has farmed and sugared here his whole life. He designed and built all the buildings, managed the dairy and then the beef operation, and has always been intrigued by agricultural innovations. Hence the installation of a methane digester to produce electricity generated with the help of our manure to sell back to the electric grid. The more we reduce our carbon footprint on the land the better for all.

Sandy landed on the farm more than 40 years ago. She has her BS in Professional Nursing and while working as a registered nurse raised 3 kids, did the Maplehurst Farm bookwork, cared for animals and managed the sales and shipping of the maple syrup before “retiring” to work on the farm.

Today Peter and Sandy run the farm, working side by side at all hours of the day and night to make sure when the sap is flowing that syrup is being made, when animals are calving, we are at their sides to care for them. By no means a nine to five job! Mother Nature calls the shots. We raise beef cattle and replacement dairy heifers for other farms too.
